I watched this on IFC a few days ago, and DVRed it. You really need to see this awesome flick. It was outstanding considering its questionable subject matter. A wild west cannibal feast you just can't miss. Great casting, great acting, great script and great film making overall. And the use of music in the flick was outstanding as well, I'm rewatching it as I type. You need to watch this cranked up on a good HT system.

Foster's Social Orchestra, which performs in the film, was founded by 'Michael Nyman' as a group attempting to create a post-modern, avant-garde sound by having artists with a background other than music perform the works of Stephen Foster in an untrained but inspired way.

Glad I chanced upon it. 10/10! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

You should watch cannibal holocaust? I think that's what it's called. I never really watched the whole thing. Just wasn't my thing. But that's supposed to be a good one for this genre.

I saw this a few years ago, it was actually pretty good. Had totally forgotten about it though, maybe I'll take the time to rewatch it now.

The music sounds interesting... I'm not one for cannibal flicks but if they took a bunch of artists and sat them down on instruments and recorded, that might be awesome.

Since I am a snake, I assume this to be aimed at me. No, but I had an alt shortly after Anandtech forums was started eons ago, but long since lost the password, old email is no longer active, all that stuff. I just lurked here for many years reading posts after that.

my brother bought it for me... apparently one of the most controversial of all time.

Rumors that they used stolen corpses as props and such.

The Italian diorected Cannibal movies from the laste 70's early 80's are disturbing like no other. Cannibal Holacaust. Cannibal Ferox and the rest of the genre. Weird crazy stuff.

I'll have to check out Ravenous.

Yea, I been adding Argento and Fulci type gore flicks to my que on BlockBuster. Nasty stuff. Sometimes the kill scenes are downright disturbing. :disgust:

The Church was a recent rental that stands out.

Is that the one with Guy Pearce? If it is, I kind of remember it being a bit of a bizarre flick. Mildly entertaining, but nothing to make me change my eating habits.

Great film but the music was a little strange and out there. Didn't always seem to fit and I didn't really see how it was a comedy much. Maybe with the black humor but I don't know. Never would of thought a movie about cannibalism could be so good! Wow! Not worthy of buying but a good one time watch.
