Your optical skills are amazing; however, your comprehension skills are lacking.

video=video cards tit

You obviously haven't read the Video Forum then tit because if you did, you would have seen discussions of LCDs and CRTs there as well.

SAMSUNG 955DF-T/T 19" DynaFlat CRT Monitor -RETAIL (limit 5 per customer)

so, fine done that does both that isnt hard

you want dot pitch below .25 and one that does 1600x1200 at at least 75Hz

Actually you're the one that's wrong because the 0.20mm (H) in the Samsung specification means horizontal pitch, a trick that manufacturer's use to make their specs looks better than others (the more accepted standard is to give diagonal pitch). So if you do the math, then the Samsung actually has a higher pitch than the ViewSonic.

Not to mention that the Samsung is a shadow mask and the ViewSonic is an aperture grille, so you're comparing apples to oranges.

I recommend against any monitor that can not do 1600x1200 @ at least 75hz.

Samsung is an awesome brand ... bit the 955df can only do 68hz at 1600x1200 ..which means it will look like its flickering and strain your eyes to death.

This is the monitor I use at home (well ... I have 3 like it) ...
Envision EF920 Flat CRT

Right now its about $200 at staples with free shipping ... In the past ... combining rebates with coupon codes ... I have seen it as low as $100.

I would go with the least expensive 19inch flat CRT that can do 1600x1200 @ 75. If you want something a little higher end, you may be able to find something that can do it at 85 hz in your price range.

For the budget conscious, there's a cheap one @ Office Depot. http://www.officedepot.com/txtSearchDD.do?searchTxt=kds+19%22&x=10&y=10

I say look for used ones? I was able to pick up a Samsung 955DF from my friend for $60. Also another Hitachi CM771 for around $70 (in addition to the two I already own that I bought for a little less than $500 a piece a few years ago). If you live near a college or what not, some huge bargains to be had when students move out...

hmm i doubt 1600*1200 is a big issue on a 19'', i dont like anything higher than 1152*864 for that size as far as 2d desktop goes...
anyway, i posted some high rez pics on that HP monitor thread if you are interested :)
