I have had like 6 Red Ryder BB guns.. they tend to malfunction after a few thousand shots ( or it could be that i didn't maintain them and kept them outside).
Also they are not very powerful, so you have to aim high to do any target shooting from a distance. Although... they still hurt quite a bit.
Are you looking for something more powerful (>600fps)?
CO2 ok?
Rifle or pistol?
Accuracy?
$100 will probably get you more of a toy class plinker than anything else.
As others have mentioned if you go with a pellet gun you get far more choices.
target practice and BB gun in the same sentence is LOL. I can't think of any practical reason to exclude a pellet gun, you can get a single shot with the velocity of a .22 for a reasonable price.
