Looking for a good AMD board

AMD AthlonXP or 64?

If it is an XP anyhting w/ an nForce2 Ultra400

If it is an AMD64 anything w/ an nFOrce3 250

On the 754 platform, Nforce 3 250 GB board are the way to go. The ASUS K8N-e Deluxe had the best resultas in game performance at stock speeds, so get that. If you overclock, get nothing but the DFI Lanparty 250 GB.

It seems to me that the only difference are accessories. So I'd say sure go with the k8n. They will not overclock well, though. I still say get the DFI and overclock it.

your recommending a DFI motherboard? based on what standards?
i've had personal experience with DFI motherboards, and you'll want to steer clear of anything with that brand on it. 1) poor quality, 2) poor support, 3) poor driver/bios support, 4) pathetic website, 5) poor board design

Brands you can't go wrong with:

Asus, MSI and Abit

recommendations for any other brands, i'd take with a grain of salt, as the 3 i just mentioned are the only ones that have proven themseleves over the past 10 + years.

between those three, just look for the one with the features you need, and you'll be set.

general rules of thumb:

Asus - rock solid stablity, awesome board design/layout, superb quality - expensive
MSI - best bang for the buck, great board designs/layout, most feature packed
Abit - one word, overclocking - enthusiasts board of choice, great support , great website

Abit for overclocking? I'm sorry to disappoint you, but according to the overclocking guide the DFI is the best there. The past DFIs have sucked, but according to Anand the Nforce 3 250 GB is exellent, and I haven't heard of anyone who has complained so far.

Do you actually have the Lanparty 250 GB?
