I am looking in the $400-$500 range. I was looking at the Sony SDM-S74 series monitors. Anyone have any opinions about these?

Sony S series is high price low-end junk. Don't buy that.
$400-500 can buy a mid to high-end good stuff with DVI, 16 or 12ms response time.

The Sony SDM S74 is $429 17" LCD and has 16ms response time and also has DVI and 160 degree viewing angle. Can you explain why you consider it
low-end junk

Also can you give some suggestions on good 17" LCD monitors in the $400-$500 range?

I am looking at 2 monitors

Samsung 710N 17" LCD $419
12ms Response time
160/140 Degree viewing angle
300 cd/m2 Brightness
600:1 Contrast ratio
0.264 Pixel pitch
1280x1024 Native Resolution

Sony SDM S74 17" LCD $429
16ms Response time
160/160 Degree viewing angle
250 cd/m2 Brightness
500:1 Contrast ratio
0.264 Pixel pitch
1280x1024 Native Resolution
DVI connector

The Samsung has 12ms response time but the Sony has DVI.

Anyone have any suggestions on these and other 17" LCD monitors?
