i want a monitor that can game close to as well as my 19 inch trinitron. i'd prefer good colors over response time, so i guess i can eliminate tn panels. from what i've read, the 2007 s ips panels are the best monitors in this price range. is this true? widescreen or not, i don't care. i just want something that won't bother me during games, yet watching movies will still be enjoyable.

quick question: i had a laptop for a short period and installed ut2004. the screen was stretched. circles looked like ovals. no extra vision, just a messy looking game. are all games like this? was i supposed to change a setting to fix it?

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I had a 24" Gateway and a 24" Dell, I ditched them and went with a 22" CRT. People can flame me for what I'm about to say (and they will haha) but you won't come close to a CRT unless you buy a professional LCD, like the JVC, or NEC pro seires but they are like $6,000 dollars - and probably aren't really well suited for gaming.

With that being said the Dell or Gateway aren't bad at all. Besides viewing angle I really couldn't tell much difference between my Gateway and my GF's 22" Westinghouse with the DREADED TN panel (oh nooooes!) I think actually for the price (less then half) her 22" is a far better monitor. Yeah the 24" looked nicer overall, but I'm viewing a 22" CRT I paid 20 bucks for right now that blows the 24 away. It all comes down to how much you're willing to spend VS how much you're willing to settle.

i'm willing to spend a little bit more for a better monitor than that acer. how does the 2007 s-ips panel stand up to the gaming competition?
