Looking for a digital camera, what to get?

I am looking to get a digital camera, but not wanting to spend a lot on this. I really just want this to be able to get pictures in my computer easier, instead of having to scan them. I really want to spend my money on a camcorder and a really good 35mm camera. What do you think for a digital camera? Would I be satisfied with a 1 megapixel camera? Or should I really get a 2 megapixel? Thanks for your help....

I think you should at least get a 2 megapixel camera... a 1mp camera is basically a portable webcam, only good for posting pics on the web...

however with a 2mp camera you can at least print them out into 4x6 photos if you want (you never know, right?)...

Canon A40 is an amazing camera. I highly recommend that.
