Looking for a design program

I love to build things. Desks, stand-alone closets, cabinets, etc etc. I also help out friends and family that are looking to fix up their kitchen/bedroom/bathroom. However, I hate drawing up the prints. I know nothing about CAD, nor any other software that will aid me in my quest to cut my time spent drawing.

Anyone know of any program that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that has a small learning curve and can be used in such a manner?

Any architects out there? What are you using?

Ooh, I feel for you. Because of the inherent complexity of 3d design, most software packages have to come with a sh!tload of features and different ways of doing things in order to stay alive in the market. I don't know many cheap ones, but Form-Z has a lower learning curve than most. It's a 3d/CAD program that will also let you print out plans.

Very expensive though. For students, it was $100 for a one year license.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if there would be n-e-thing for free. I guess I should start charging people a tiny bit to cover the costs :)
