I looked up the chair I had at my last job. I used that chair for over 8 years and it was perfect but it's over $650 which is outside my range for home use. I do find any chair under $400 to be pretty crappy.

Personally I'm a big fan of Hon, SteelCase and a few other brands, haven't heard of Realspace. You might want to take a look at a Hon VL700 series, amazon has them for $250 http://www.amazon.com/HON-Series-Hig...syx+mesh+chair along with other Hon chairs in the Basyx line for decent prices. Have one myself (can't recall the model number) and I've been quite happy with it.

Not a fan of anything with leather, fake leather or plastic seats. They seal in the juices. D:

Going to look at a couple of steelcase chairs up in Tampa on craigslist.. one looks to retail for over $700 and they want $100 for each. What are the odds im going to get robbed and shot?

Steelcase Leap /thread

Actually the Leap is pretty pricey but totally worth it. If you could find a good used one (version 2) on Craigslist or other place that would be the way to go.

nice

high back chair w/headrest of a must for me

Ended up getting this chair

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00103102/

I was about to get a new one but checked out the as-is section before I paid and found one of these in there. Apparently someone built it and returned it. Everything works fine on it.. no rips or major scratches, just the rollers are not super smooth but they all still spin and im sure I can clean them.

It was marked down to $129 and then there was another 15% off for Ikea Family card members so I got one of those. $117 with tax.. not bad at all.

I seriously don't understand...you get a crap chair made out of dirt cheap mesh for hundreds of dollars!?!?

This costs the same or less:

Exactly. These chairs are such a con.

If they were so good BMW and Mercs would be using them in their $70K cars since they are sooooo good at long sitting times. Oh wait, they aren't, they have plush leather seats with dense and supportive cushions.

Actually the chair that I bought is leather where it matters.. the back is mesh to make it breath. Its much much cooler to sit in already.

it's the sad truth of office chairs. It's something you just have to splurge on, but if you're a nerd you use it for a huge amount of hours anyway and it lasts a long time so it's a good deal.

I've tried the Leap 1 and Leap 2. I found them uncomfortable. I'm a light skinny guy, which I think was the problem. The people I know that seem to like them tend to be a bit heftier, which makes sense from what I saw in the chair.

That being said, you can usually find a used Leap on Craiglist for about $300 while a used Aeron is about $500. They're both $900 new.
