Are there any good, inexpensive coolers that don't require me to take out the motherboard? Any recommendations?

that depends. what kind of an OC were you hoping to achieve? and what do you consider inexpensive? there are a lot of good options out there now that support i7 out of the box, and yet more that you can get secondary brackets for since they werent originally designed for i7.

from the reviews i have seen, i can recommend 2 coolers: either the Xigmatek S-1283v Dark Knight, or the Prolimatech Megahalems. The S-1283v comes with a higher RPM/CFM fan than the original S-1283 and a bolt through kit for S775 and 1366, and it's a fair bit cheaper than most of the other coolers out there today. The Prolimatech Megahalems is turning out to be what many are calling the "TRUE Killer", and from what I have seen of its performance capabilities, im inclined to agree. the cool thing about the megahalems is the mounting bracket for it is amazingly easy to install and use. i have already remounted mine 3 times and it didnt take more than a few minutes each time round.

unfortunately, i dont know of any good coolers right now for i7 which dont use a bolt through kit, so unless someone else knows of something, you're pretty much stuck with removing the mobo. keep in mind though, that once the bracket is in back there, you never really need to take it off again. if you have any issues with a backplate falling back, you can use cardboard cutouts as spacers with some tape to hold them in place

I've heard that Scythe Coolers do pretty well but haven't been able to find one at a good price. Most of them seem to be easy to mount too. I'm not going to be doing much OCing if any right off the bat so I may just stick to the stock cooler.
