I went to a career fair last Monday here in the Las Vegas area. Sally Shiff was my person to contact and it she was a no show. I've emailed her a couple of times and she doesn't seem to know what to do. So now I've hit a dead end. Maybe you already know someone on the net and can send me an email address. PM me if you have ideas.

Contact the sponsor of the job fair and explain the situation.

They will be able to provide you with a POC for Radio Shack.

I tried that... twice. Sally.Shiff@RadioShack.com

Bottom line: Reapply in 60 days.

You're the first to PM me. I'm waiting for others then am going to try something. Once I have a few more contacts I'll try to get them involved in a little discussion then post it to usenet - resurrect they're dead newsgroup. I don't have any record I could find about radioshack being active on usenet - so I don't think they'll even suspect.

How about anyone currently employed by RadioShack PM me. I don't think I'm asking for too much. I just need a little info.

Thanks

Options:
1) The job fair should have been able to provide you with a phone number.

2) Go to one of the local RadioShack stores and ask for the manager.
Explain the situation. They should be able to help you along.

3) Have you looked up the last name Shiff in the phone book.

Call every Shiff listed in the book and ask for the person.

If you want the slot, start digging. You should not wait a couple of weeks to find some-one if you are serious about a position.

We can all probably agree with you EagleKeeper. I'm not saying anything is wrong with your method. However, I don't feel that you have completely grasped the point I'm trying to make. I'm gathering contacts on the Net - "Net" contacts.

When all else fails, I suppose your cutting-edge method of actually calling or visiting the person (when airline prices drop) will definitely benefit. Although *Generally* it would not be a good idea to P.O. the person that invited me (Shiff).

I'm trying for clever.... maybe persistent in your case... not annoying.

Were you visiting in the LV area when the job fair happended. Otherwise what is the reference to airline prices?

I've emailed her a couple of times and she doesn't seem to know what to do.
I apoligize, I missed this part.
As I understand it, you have been in contact with her via E-Mail and she is clueless on what to do?
If so, what was she doing at the job fair anyhow? Most reps at a job fair are looking to fill certain slots and/or tagging certain type of people for future use.

There is another job fair coming up in this area soon. If you are local then try again.

However, based on your comment:

Are you looking for a position with Radio Shack?
Is it in the LV area?

What is the thing with Net contacts. How is that related to the Radio Shack no-show.

Are you job floating your resume to see who nibbles?

do not I repeat do not work at ratshack. unless you get one of the rare good managers and a mall store its not even worth it. you sell all day and lucky if you get out of it with 7-8 bucks an hour. most of the managers i've seen will hog all the high dollar sales and leave the associates to pick up the scraps.

Its probably a lot easier just asking Sally those questions, EagleKeeper. Her email address is in this thread someplace. Actually, I would be surprised if you haven't done that - going by your last reply.

This off-topic is a little more off topic than I was aiming for. All I needed was some ways of gaining net contacts from RadioShack... email addresses, IM addresses, or addresses of forums they post on... etc.

Sally Shiff doesn't live in Las Vegas... as you know. The RadioShack career fair is in Las Vegas... as you also know. Now where is the confusion?

Yep. That was the way that it was 14 years ago. God I'm getting old.

The original post did not make clear what your intentions are. My efforts/guidance to resolve your delima were based on faulty information derived from the original post.
