Looking for a cheaper email server

I tried setting up my own email server but have since given up. I host my own web server and need somewhere to host my emails. I am looking for a cheaper place where I can setup three email accounts with POP access that I can use with most email clients. The email server HAS to be compatible with SMF and Gallery2 Software since these are the main reasons I need email. I currently use a gmail account but this is close to impossible to setup with Gallery2 software without PHP coding from what I could find with some research.

Any ideas or suggestions?

99% of web hosts offer email/webmail (POP3/IMAP), Apache, Perl, CGI, MySQL, PHP, FTP and more.

I know web hosts offer that stuff, however my web server sits in my basement. As for budget, I don't expect to pay more $10 for 3 email accounts monthly as I can find a full fledged host for that. I don't need large email boxes as these will only be used for admin, webmaster, and account registration. The rest of the stuff will stay with gmail.
