I want something to power a pair of these. Someone suggested a 70's-80's Sansui or Pioneer receiver (they sell for around $50 on eBay) but I was just wondering if I should get something else. Thx

Ok let me get this straight, you spent good money on a set of studio monitor speakers. And now you're looking to get an el cheapo receiver. You're kidding, right?

NAD 3020 integrated amplifier... FM is over-rated. It will probably run you about $200 and trust me, it will be the best $200 you have ever spent on sound amplification.

Yep, you pretty much got me :D

Actually the speakers only set me back $220. I was thinking about getting the active set but they were 2X as much. I had the impression that the really old receivers with wood & chrome exteriors were good quality, but I don't know a thing about 'em.
