Looking for a cheap mic...

I just want to be able to talk, that is all. Whatever gets the job done, cheaper the better.

I am faced with a dilemma though, should I buy a stand-alone mic or a complete headset? I don't like listening to headsets, I just want to be able to talk.

My speakers don't have a headphone jack, does that mean I have to reach into the back of my PC and switch the plugs everytime I wanna play CS?

Get a Plantronics Audio 90, has nice long cords, volume and mic mute on the cord and its pretty cheap, around $20. I like mine.

I've never seen just a head-worn mic unless you count one of the sets that Britney Spears wears. Maybe try a music store and see what they have? If you go to a gaming shop or a computer shop, they're going to have the standard boom mics and headsets like what the rest of us have. You're wanting something more specialized so it's gonna be more $$ and harder to find.

I picked up a logitech headset at Wally World for about $10 last year. Crisp quality and it's comfortable, too.

I would get a headset/mic, because if you have your speakers up, people can hear it when you talk, and that is annoying sometimes.

You can do the quick and dirty way of using a set of dollar headphones from the dollar store: rip the headband off, and look! A free mic.

Its clear enough for gaming chatter, but if you use this for anything else (music, et al), you're friggen nuts.

I keep my headset on, but use my speakers. The cheap logitech headset is very good at not picking up the game sounds.
