Looking for a cheap laptop.

Hey, I'm looking to sell my powerbook and get a low end PC Laptop.

I know both gateway and dell can get me systems for arounf $800, is there any other dealers you think i should look at?

Thanks for the link man. I took a look, basically the same as the gateway. Its 100 less for the HP, but its after rebate, and 1/2 the HD, 1/2 the ram.

i placed an order for teh gateway 400SP Plus 2 days back for my dad..

seems like a decent laptop to do surfing internet, and other work related stuff.. its not a gaming laptop though.

Sharp makes nice sub-notebooks. I got the MV12W at Fry's on clearance for $1199. It's a PIIIM 1.13Ghz, 256MB, 40GB, cdrw/dvd, built in wireless and weights 4.6 lbs. If you don't mind spending a bit more and can find one near you, it's a killer deal.

I bought a HP 1.8 gig AMD XP mobile, 128 megs of ram (easy to upgrade), 20 gig hdd, dvd / cdrw, 15" for $660.

that is what i got, except for the under 5 pounds part for about 1200.

I fell in love with a Dell Inspiron 600m at a local Dell kiosk. It was lightweight, fast and fun.

Get an used Thinkpad, one with a waranty, off ebay.
