looking for a case...

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap case for the GA-8IHXP motherboard?

I've been looking and I didn't expect cases to cost so much money, so if anyone can list any decent ones they recommend for that motherboard yet, not too expensive, then I'd be more than happy 🙂

Thanks

What is one of my personal pet peeve's, you ask? It's when someone posts, "What's a good, cheap *whatever*?" without specifically defining "cheap." 😉 While $70 for a case might be "cheap" to one person, it certainly wouldn't be to another. So, if you give us a dollar amount to work with, we can answer your question much better.

(Ok, I'm done now. 😉 )

Look around Newegg at the Chieftec cases. Those are real good cases.

Directron is another excellent place to shop for cases.

OK... I'm a student, enough said? ;-)
nah, cheap is around the $50 mark, I wouldn't like to pay more than say $60 for a case.. but I work with pound sterling (£) so what ever it is in dollars, it's most likely going to be further more expensive over here anyways.
Just nothing fancy, but well recommended for that board...

.... *raises eyebrow*....
You're a student?
So you went out and got a damn expensive m/board (I have one too), using damn expensive RDRAM?? And you're probably looking at hooking up RAID too, right? But you want some cheap tinny-arsed case?? Gah! I've got mine sitting in a nice PC-61 Lian-Li case. Go for something nice, 'cos if you go for cheapness, you'll probably get a dodgy power supply, and you won't be a happy chappy when it hits the fan. 🙂

...not meaning to sound rude or anything; just confused as to the situation of "cheapness" re. the m/board 😀

I been workin really hard over the summer break :-0

Well, I'll be buying a seperate PSU (enermax), just need a bucket to fit all this stuff in basically.. a well recommended bucket.
Seriously though, why would I need a really top notch case that would go WAY beyond my budget as it already was, just so that it can sit there and look pretty?

Anways, the price range I stated isn't all that cheap for a case, is it?? *gulp*

A Lian-Li case doesn't just 'look' pretty, it functions better then conventional steel cases, has thumbscrews all around, and has enough factory fans to warrant the price of one. I just bought a PC-75 the other day and I have to say it's phenomenal.

NOPE, you don't need "top notch" case, but definitely you want a case w/ good cooling design, PERIOD.
I think no one suggest you just to buy "look pretty" case, as you didn't state you already got PSU at your original post, thus,
their concern is more of "reliable PSU"?

Try newegg.com /mwave.com /directron.com

BTW, $50 for the case? That's more than what I pay for my CASE + PSU. 🙂

So what almost everyone's saying is: any ATX case is recommended?
I was kinda looking for specifics, but if any does the job then I'll go with that..

Although most of the cases I been looking at on websites don't give out details whether it's ATX or not
Lian-Li cases over here are £80+ :-(

//edit: ScrapSilicon pasted a nice link to some cases, ta

Is it worth spending alot of money on a case then? Alot is about 60£ to me, and I kinda need a make+model for the case (remember I'm using the GA-8IHXP mobo, otherwise I'd buy myself a dud somehow..

well i would reccomend, a nice antec case, they come with amazing powersupplies and the case at one cost

Most any of these

they have room for up to 4 case fans, and come with two, and also come with excellent power supplies, the more exspensive ones, come with better power supplies, but only if they are "antec TRUE power" power supply

go with them they are the most respected non aluminum case around, and they stand up to about anything, one of their old ads had a guy standing on their case!

I just went through the same dilema. I settled on a Codegen silver-beige case. You should check it out -- it's really cool looking. I bought mine from newegg.com for $39. But now I see McGlen.com (they're also very good) has them on sale right now for $29. It doesn't have all the fancy stuff and namebrand power supply but it'll definitely work for ya and it's the coolest looking case out there for the money. Go to mcglen.com's website, it's right on the front page. Has a silver front. They don't rip ya off on shipping like some computer places do. I've bought from them a couple times before. Good luck

I personally have this one and found it to be quite roomy, and the pull-out motherboard tray makes all the difference in the world 🙂 Also, the sliding covers hides all your beige drives and isn't half as obtrusive as one of the Antec doors that always gets in the way. Oh, and its only $34 and looks cool.
