Need help finding a cable modem for RR service that will connect two and one-way.

I have a one-way modem, surfboard 1000 that uses an isa slot. Will be upgrading my motherboard soon. If I can find a modem that will go both ways and uses a pci slot, usb, or serial port I will be good to go.

These are the modems ATT recommends:

3Com®
CMX 2940
3CR29220
3CR29221
3CR29223
Motorola®
(Formerly General Instruments®)
SB2100
SB3100
SB4100

Arris/Nortel®
CM100
CM200
CM200u
Linksys®
BEFCMU10

BestData®
CMZ110
CMX100
Thomson/RCA®
DCM105
DCM205
DCM215
DCM225
DCM226
DCM235
DCM235R
DCM245
DCM245r

COM21®
DP1010
DP101
DP111
DP1110
DOXPORT1110
Toshiba®
DAZ8801
DAZ8811
DAZ8813
PCX1100
PCX1100U
Ericsson®
HM200C Zoom Telephonics®
5011 - external model only

Do any of these go both ways?

Thanks for any input.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Modems general go both ways (transmit and receive). I have the Toshiba PCX1100U and it works great. I just had Cox RR (Fairfax, VA) installed this weekend.

I think he's asking if there are any cable modems that will do both one-way cable (use the cable connection to download, regular dial-in connection for uploading) and two-way cable (use the cable connection for both downloading and uploading). As far as I know, the majority of the cable modems out there will only do one or the other. Although it would be a bit time consuming, what I would do is read the specs on those modems you have listed to see if any of them will do both one-way and two-way cable internet service. I personally have the SB3100 cable modem, and it's a two-way only cable modem.

Sorry this may have been a little unclear. Let me add a little more smoke.

The cable modem I have now is one-way. I call out with a regular modem (56K), but receive through the cable modem. = Fast downloads slow uploads. It's the only option I have right now.

I would like to replace this cable modem with one that sends and receives (two way), and does one-way.

I'm going to have to change my cable modem because it uses an ISA slot and eventually ATT will have two way available. This would save me from buying yet another modem.

Thanks for any suggestions

Motorola makes one but I don't remember the model. I think it's the 3200B or 3400B. Does 2-way RF and has dial out. Is this what you're looking for?

BTW, I've used Cisco, Motorols, Toshiba, RCA, Com21, and the Toshiba. The Motorola was my favorite. It's an excellent performer and has a greater tolerance for noise on the line than the others. Hook them all up and introduce noise and the Motorola is usually the last to drop out.
