I am looking for a budget burner, and since there a few choices under $100, I was wondering what you guys recommend. I know at www.newegg.com they have the Lite-On and AOpen 16x CDRW for less than $100, even the AOpen 20x CDRW is less than $100. Which one do you recommend? And does anyone have the AOpen 20X CDRW? How is it?

A lot of people around here swear by the Lite-On burners. Personally, I prefer Plextor, but if you want to stay under $100 then the Lite-On is probably your best choice.

My brother has a Lite-On as well, and he likes it. I have a Plextor 8/4/32, and it died on me two months ago. I RMA'ed it, and got it back, now it is burning coasters on every other CD. I am going to call Plextor back, but it is going to be nice to get a 16x or 20x burner.

Not a philips fan and have heard a lot of complaints, but they seem to be the only ones that can routinely dupe several of the tougher cd protections like safedisc2...
and of course backing up for personal use is LEGAL and, more importantly, prudent.
