Hi, all
I'm looking at finally moving from a 17" CRT to a flat panel monitor on one of my machines, and I think that the 19" widescreen provides the screen area that I want. However, this decision was precipitated by the fact that these monitors are coming down significantly in price. I'm looking at two monitors in particular, the Gateway FPD1975W ($230) and the Hanns G ($200). Are either of these monitors relatively decent for the price category that they represent? What other monitors in this price range would you suggest for their picture quality? I play some games, so I'm also interested in a fast response time. I'm a bit obsessive about my blacks -- washed-out colors and blacks don't do it for me. I look forward to reading your responses.
Is it just better to wait and spend $400 on a monitor once I can afford to do that? And finally, are there any monitors in this size class that I should aspire to in particular? Audio is really my specialty -- I don't know an incredible amount about monitors.
All the best
