I'm looking for a pretty big desk. Likely L-shaped. I'd like to be able to put my pooter on it (I have an LCD, so that's good as far as space is concerned) but I don't think I want it in the corner of the L. It'd be cool if there was enough room on one side for some musical equipment, and enough room on the other side for a space to write with.

Anyone have any suggestions/pics/whatever for what sort of desk I should get?

I'm looking for a desk as well. I need something better for gaming though, it doesn't need to be big at all. With the desk I have now I don't have enough room on the pull out thing for my keyboard and my mouse pad. I've tried to play with the mousepad and the mouse on top of the desk but just doesn't feel comfortable.

I have the exact same desk in picture one sitting in my garage unused. Methinks its time to bust out the sander.

BTW, I got it for free from a friend. Never knew they sold for so much.

I just finished building a new desk for my stuff.

The base is a 6' folding banquet table from Office Depot (about $35). I then fastened a 36" wide door from Lowes onto it with screws (about $36).
It's a battleship of a desk, but that's what I wanted. ;) I wanted something deep enough to handle my 21" CRT and wide enough for printer, scanner, etc.

My girlfriend and I just got a couple of matching desks that I think are the nicest I've seen. They cost $600 each, and are real, solid wood; we got them from a local "Good Wood" shop... Kind of expensive, but this'll most likely be the last desk I have to buy. Those are 19" monitors up top...

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a couple sections of countertop. You can get a 4 or 5 foot section for under $50. Make your supports out of 2x6s. It'll be alot stronger than the stuff sold at office stores.

go check out Office Depot or Staples and check out office desks made by Bush.

the Bush Mod 4000 and the Bush Cubix Collection are modular sets of office desks. I got me the corner desk, a 48" extension and a 60" extension. My desk setup is friggin HUGE now. i love it. It set me back around $400 something total, but it was definitely one of the best things ive ever bought.

Your point?

Oh, and why?

I hate L shaped desks because they are inflexible in their positioning. You have to put them in a corner or else they suck. With two desks, you can position them in an L or any other configuration youw ant.

True enough. However... you can't get the effect of having an L desk by having 2 desks... even placing them at at 90 degree angle, side by side. There are the sides that support the desk, so that impedes leg room. Thus, why I stick with actual L desks.

go to officemax and check out the brand BUSH, they really are good for the price. I got mine last week. I love it. It's so stable... and it's HUGE!!!!! And buy it online, and go to fatwallet to get coupon codes like 40 off 200 or 30 off 150 and it will save you some buck. Free delivery same week.
