Looking for a basic stereo system, need advice.

I've got myself a 2000 honda accord for my first car, and I'm looking for some sort of stereo. It's got a tape deck right now, and all I would really want would be something with at least 1 USB port and also an AUX port. A CD player would be nice, but I only have 2 music CDs.

I've had many a friend who has had good luck at Best Buy. They have a good selection and can do the install too.

I would need it done for me. I can build a PC, but I haven't figured out the mess that is electrical wiring.

I'll check out best buy. I've also had someone recommend the Alpine CDE-143BT if you know much about those.

I would say bring your devices with you and try out the interfaces on each headunit. Sounds like you're more interested in connectivity than sound quality so UI should be your top priority.

I opted for a JVC KDX310BT, picked it up for $84 on Amazon. It was the cheapest unit I could find that supported FLAC files via USB, and had two aux outs in the back (for dual amps). Sound quality / equalizer options / connectivity I have no complaints about. Installation took about half an hour, it's easier than assembling a desktop computer if you buy the wiring harness adapter.

It's true that connection options mean more than sound quality right now. I honestly don't know what kind of quality the speakers even have left in them actually. Currently everything I play sounds kinda fuzzy and dimmed. It might be the speakers that were sitting in texas sun for 3 years, or the 15 year old everything. I stream my music and it's only 96kb/s anyway. :$
All in all I don't think anyone would ever call me an audiophile.

I'll check out that one also. For me it mostly comes down to price and reviews as I have no idea what I'm doing. I'll also check out videos on how to install these things, I might be able to do it.

Have you tried Crutchfield? They are very good at guiding you through installations, and that generation Accord is a pretty easy to replace the head unit.

I saw their support thing while shopping around, I'll add them to the list.

Also, after some basic research, I found out that a double-DIN will fit, but it might put some controls at an awkward angle.

So many choices.

I think one I've pretty much decided on is the JVC KW-R910BT.
It seems to do everything I want and more, and looks good too. With it being double-DIM I'd have to remove a storage area and paneling, and also reinstall a custom bracket and rewire some AC stuff it looks like, so I may let best buy do it.

Seems like a nice unit, but food for thought: You might consider getting one with a larger screen, and the ability to interface with a backup camera, if you're going with a double-DIN model.

It's been close to a decade since I've used a CD and I don't see that changing any time soon, so for me a CD player is a waste of space.

I ended up with the Kenwood DPX501BT

It's pretty nice. I would have gone for a bigger screen and maybe back up camera stuff, but they were almost $100 more and I also don't see myself getting a camera for this car.
