I've fallen way behind on vid card tech, and don't have time to read the forum.

I have a Shuttle XPC SFF box (SN27P2) that I like quite a bit (AM2 platform w/ 1 PCIE). Currently pairing an XFX 7950GTX with an Athlon X2 4200+.

Looking for better game performance @ 1680x1050 (Dell 2007WFP). Big fan of cool & quiet cards too, and of course, my PSU (high yield 400W) and case size may limit my choices.

Recommendations?

XPC specs

Asus 9800GT

Faster than a 9800GTX. It will bottleneck your cpu somewhat, but you will be able to run higher AA and AF levels.

Hmm. I appreciate the advice, but that thing is huge, and double slot. I'm using an XPC - I really need a 9" (or shorter), single slot card.

It's not looking like there's anything out there that meets my requirements (size & noticeable performance improvement), and needs (quiet & cool).

Guess I kinda figured that after 2+ years, there'd be some kind of 55nm core budget card with passive cooling that would smoke my 7950 GT

good reviews at newegg though i'm not sure i'd trust that cooler seeing as how it looks like the stock 8600gt coolers. newegg also has one that bundles with Far Cry 2 for $120 after rebate if that game interests you more.
