Hello all,

I'm searching for a PSU that is 5" L and about 400-450Watts. Not having much luck unless I want to go with an Athena. The biggest problem is hardly any sites like the PSU dimensions so I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a quality PSU that will fit the bill?

Thanks!

What case are you using? There are a number of decent 5.5" PSUs (140mm) if that will fit your case. If so, then we can suggest something.

I'm using this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144232 APEVIA X-MASTER-BL/500 ATX Case.

It currently uses a 5.5" (140mm long) PSU and I'm looking to replace that for a shorter one because it won't fit with my HIS 4870 GPU. I have my PSU mounted outside of the case and am getting tired of it :)

I guess my other options are to ditch the case or upgrade the GPU to something hopefully shorter. I think I've looked at over 100 PSUs so far and haven't found any that fits the bill.

Athena Power? They range from mediocre to okay. What troubles me most about them is that their reliability isn't that great.

Well I was on the fence about buying one, but with two reactions like this and a $125 price tag for a 5" one I'll have to skip it.

What's really a shame as I just looked at my PSU is that there's actually a little more then 1/2" of dead space between the back of the PSU casing and where the circuit board end. If there was a safe way for me to dremel off the excess 1/2" I'd be golden.
