I think it's around the 40s, B&W. Like a feel good christmas movie.
WW 2 Wife doing here bid to support the home front with teenage daughter.
They have a stereotypical black housekeeper - typical for that day in the movies.
Her husband a pilot in the war goes missing somewhere over indonesia?
They take in a old crotchety british man that rents a room who hates his own son.
Daughter of Wife falls in love with son of crotchety old man.
Later in movie he finally reconciles with son but misses his son at train depot when son goes to war.
Son dies in war.
Daughter after mourning decides to volunteer at hospital.
Wifes husbands friends show up to try and cheer up wife.
Wife sitting alone in a dark room late one night crying about her husband with snow outside and all hope is lost ...and the phone rings.
Its her husband calling from seattle. He's alive, the end.
So i'm looking for the name of the movie! Usualy its on AMC and I catch it but I've missed it the last couple of years and been trying to find it.
Anyone?
