looking for a father's day gift for my dad who is in his 50's.

he uses his PC for office work, and videos.

i cannot tell which panel is a TN/VA/IPS.. etc so any help on that would be appreciated

i have skimmed through the LCD thread and would still like some input on some specific models/recommendations:

Samsung 2253BW Black 22" 2 ms $259.99AR + $15 shipping

Dell E228WFP 22" LCD $239 + shipping

anything similarly priced and better than these two monitors for the purposed of office work and videos?

oh, thanks lol

any comments on that Samsung 2253BW? i'm looking to buy it from buy.com really soon.

it sucks that newegg is now charging tax for NY residents. that just drove me away from them

I'm not sure for that particular one, but few Samsung monitors are part of "panel lottery" - meaning you might get Samsung panel (best case) or CHI-MEI one (usual case)

what are the pros of getting a samsung panel vs cons of getting a chi-mei panel?

We have 3x 2253BW's at work. They're ok.
I am very much spoiled at home (NEC 2690wuxi) so I am not really all that impressed but it seems like my boss is.

If you can't find something you like, I don't think you can go wrong.

does anyone else have the Samsung 2253BW? i'm really interested in this. It looks like ZZF has the cheapest total price to me (NYC)

i know, you have it duhh!!

was looking for anyone else that had anything to say about it!

its tough to chose a monitor without seeing it in action first...
