It should be fine.

My old man had a 95 with a 318. While I am not a Dodge guy myself, if I were in the market for a p/up I would have bought that thing off him when he bought his Duramax. It was a fantastic truck. Only 2 minor problems since new, and both where wearing items.

It gets my vote *AS LONG AS IT WAS MAINTAINED PROPERLY!*

yeah take it to the guy that doesn't really know how to fix it, but
will take several guesses...at your expense, of course

I can fix a lot of things myself and have a lot of friends big into cars that would help me out if something serious happened.

My dad's '99 Ram has been quite reliable with only one minor problem in 4 years (oil pressure sensor went bad), and my uncle's '96 Ram is on 300,000 miles and still going fine. But they are 2500 4x4 diesels w/ manuals (my dad has the rare '99 6 speed, uncle has the 5 speed). Avoid getting a V6. The 4.3 in the GM trucks are okay when attached to a manual, but otherwise they are all underpowered.

I'd go for the chevy. Even though its got 98k miles on it, the point is that its got that many and still running.

The 2wd vs 4wd should be a concern only if you think you will really need the benifits of 4wd (snow, weather, 4x4'ing etc) and the additional gas usage of the 4wd. The V8 on the chevy uses enough gas as is (compared to todays econo boxes).

The chevy 1500 V8 2wd seem to be solid trucks, a lot of my friends have them, with many miles, and they still run well.

I too like the power of a V8, but in california, with gas prices as they are, i'd be happy with a V6. But i would pick the chevy over the ford in a heartbeat. I guess i'm kinda chevy biased.

Im not really biased in any way when it comes to trucks. A lot of people around here are like chevys suck get a ford or fords suck get a chevy or some other crap. They all have a unique look to them and well since there is all the bias its hard to find an answer to the which is most reliable question.

Between those 3 I'd take the Chevy, 8000 miles more doesn't mean much.

But of course I don't know anything about the details of any of them, do I ?😱

im definitely gonna make sure to go through any truck i want as in depth as is possible. I dont exactly have money to waste.

Yeeeeah... lets all drive around in Honda 1/2 ton pickups.

Damn't I wanted to be the first person to make a smartassed reply about that.

Take everything people on here say with a grain of salt. There is a lot of antidomestic bias on this board.

One thing to keep in mind about the 4wd vs 2wd thing is 4x4 hold value better and are usually easier to sale. If you don't need 4wd though and want to save a couple bucks or get lower miles go for it.
