Looking for ~8 inch tablet for kids, budget < $150

They need "iPad" for school. All they do it pretty much use one or two apps which are available across all ecosystems and play video games, so planning to buy her Android as I am not willing to pay more than $150. Came across Lenovo Tab 4, 8" Android Tablet, its brand new at $130.

Anyone has any other suggestions? I am okay with buying older refurbished tabs. One requirement I do have is that its has Android 7, maybe I can compromise with 6... But I am not willing to buy older refurbished Apple ipad minis.

Amazon HD 8" is cheaper, but it's a customized Android, you run the risk that some APPs can't be installed (including Google's).

Too bad my Galaxy Pro 8.4 never saw anything higher than 4.4.2. Its a great tablet.

Didn't know that. I previously had to root Amazon HD 7 and flash custom ROM.

Good to hear that new Fire HD is able to load Google Play & etc easily.

Philosophical reasons... I am personally anti-apple. I realize their products are great, and I don't dislike people using them, I even recommend it to certain people, but not for me, or my kids for as long and i can control
