Looking to upgrade my m4500 with a mini SSD. I have two problems:

1. The stock mini SSD is a Samsung PM800 - mSATA 3.0Gb/s MLC SSD MMDPE64GEDXP-MVB

Which I can not seem to locate anywhere for sale including on the Dell website and with a Dell SB rep that I chatted with...

2. Since I can not locate the above SSD I would like to find a replacement. The problem is that it is a 50mm, mSATA 2 unit (mini SATA as opposed to a 70mm and/or PATA unit that's fairly common)

I did find this one, but I can not seem to find anyone that sells it. Even if I did find it I am not so sure I would want to buy it as I have no idea of the brand and compatibilty.

Anyone have any idea where to get the Samsung or get a compatible replacement ?

This is the results of my new 128GB Sammy mSATA SSD that I just ripped out of my Series 9 laptop. Hows that for performance from a mSATA? Best yet!!!

About time, the 64 I have is OK, but it's just too small for a workstation lappy, it's too tight for apps & OS. I have about half my stuff installed on the 2.5" internal ssd.

If I had a 128 mSATA I would put a 750 / 7200 drive in the main drive and not have to lug around an eSATA drive

flamenko, those speeds are very similar to the MyDigitalSSD with the Phison controller in it. Man Phison has sure done a good job considering their product can go head to head with the might of Samsung. After doing some research I found that Phison products are in just about every computer we have. Seems they specialize in all the little tiny parts that we never talk about.

sgrinavi, looks like they have 2 choices for 128GB mSATA.

watch out buying oem samsung - they usually carry no warranty since they are oem through the integrator.
