Looking at the Lincoln Mark VIII LSC for my next car. Any owners here?

Were you implying they're not nice to drive or just that they're nice to ride in and you've never driven one? From what I've read on most boards around the net they are relatively agile for their size and the computer firms up the suspension around corners, but I don't drive like I'm in the Indy 500 anyway.

The car does have a 290hp V8 and is RWD though, that's a plus. I love smooth riding cars too, that's the only real complaint I have about my Supra.

Whenever I go out to visit my family in CA, my brother has a Towncar pick me up at the airport. That's about the extent of my knowledge. :)

A friend of mine owns one. The car is very nice, loaded with features. The only thing I would be worried about is repair costs

I wondered about that. It has the 4.6l ford motor but it's a 4 cam, so it can't be the same one (or the same heads anyway) as is in the mustang and the T bird as I recall those being SOHC. I would think the maintenace and upkeep would be similar to or less than my current car, which is A) Imported B) From the 80's and C) Forced Induction, but I could be wrong. More electronic stuff so probably more to go wrong. It looks like they range from 93-98 and the prices are around 6k to 13k depending on mileage and condition.

My family was looking into them (I even posted about it here)...but after research we found that the air-suspension tends to fail..and is quite expensive to fix.

Apart from that, there weren't any major problems (from what I could find).

They sure look pretty though, and are quite quick.

Where's Zenmervolt (sp?). I'm pretty sure he's got a Mark VIII. Not sure if his is a LSC tho.

$80.00 for a rear air spring assembly... big deal.

Yeh, and a timing belt only costs $12 in parts but it's a $400+ shop bill depending on the make.

Parts aren't everything.

Fortunately, they don't use a fvcking timing belt. The rear springs would be no more labor to screw with than your average McPherson strut.

The cars are pretty bulletproof. I love mine.

I wrote up a long review of it for epinions.com: http://www.epinions.com/content_129689620100

Be warned, the only big fault with the car is that it is terrible in rain and snow. More than 60% of the weight is in the front and there's a lot of power going to those rear wheels.

Yeah, it's not unmanageable, but it's something that a lot of people might not be expecting since it has "traction control".
