:confused:I am about to put a new system together and I wish to buy a T/Bird and OC it.
I have a Abit KT7-RAID M/B with 256MB of CL=2 PC133 RAM
Hedgehog and a number of intake, output and system fans.

Now ,I have been told that a T/Bird is only capable of going to 1250mhz without physical changes to the M/B or CPU.

1)is this correct ?
2)if so then what size CPU would you suggest I get to acheive 1250mhz ?
I was thinking along the lines of a 1 or 1.1 GHZ.
As always trying to keep price down.
3)is it possible to run a peltier with this system ?

Suggestions gratefully received.

you have to unlock the multiplier of the tbird to change it...so i count that as modifying the cpu..hehe...i guess it isn't really physically changing it

umm...getting a 1.1 ghz? will u notice the difference from 1.1 and 1.2? without benchmarks?

what are you using the system for...some don't overclock as well as others...
i hear that the dresden lab (blue color cpu) are better than the green and will have a higher chance of oc'ing.

you might be able run 105 x 11 on a 1.0 ghz cpu...sorry but i have a 950 and 110x950 is working for me but only 95% stable (running 3dmark2000 for 6 hours is fine, quake 4hours fine, but stability test 6.0 any more than 15 hrs ... my system won't wake)

There is a huge difference in price over here (AU) between 1ghz and 1.2ghz so what I am trying to do is see which is the cpu speed that is the lowest as in 1ghz to OC to 1250 it should be possible.
I have just been to overclockers.co.uk and they have pretested 1.1ghz for sale that will do over 1250mhz.
I have just seen it so I may see what my exchange rate is.

actualy i say benchs the other day for a t-bird at 1.35 (12.5x108) with no magor mods, so that blows 1250 out of the water.
if your trying to keep the price down get slower rated one, unless you realy nead 1gz of power, you'll probably get up there anyway with an 850 for about half the price. and yes you can use a pelter but it has to be a big one (72w+) to do any good at all, and pelters are always risky without lots of experiance. so tell me, what do you need 1250mhz for anyway?

Sir Edmund Hillary was asked a similar question, yet he was not deterred.
