So recently I have noticed some pretty cool personal cloud devices on the market. Wanted to see if anyone had tried them yet. I have to travel from time to time, and I don't really want to carry my library with me all the time. It also has the added bonus of being a DLNA device.

I will primarily use it to listen to my music from my phone, and watch movies from it when i am travelling ($7.95 for a in room PPV I dont think so). Anyone have any other suggestions? I already have a 2TB i could use, but if there is a better option available i am open to suggestions.

That's a NAS, not a cloud.

Any need for file access? or just media?

some limited file access, most of the files I will need while traveling will come from my work VPN.

Seems like what you should get in that case. The claimed specs are pretty ambitious - wonder how well it does in the real world.

It's worth bearing in mind that the functionality of the access is - unless you fiddle with DynDNS (if you can on the device) etc - is entirely dependent on Akitio staying in business and continuing to offer the My Cloud service.
