Looking at P45

Is it generally a waste of money? At the moment, I'm on the fence about this. I am currently looking at PCI-E 2.0 as the main point since DDR3 hasn't dropped in price either. But looking at how they already spec'ed the PCI-E 3.0 specs, I would assume that it would probably hit the market mid-next year. And if the roadmap is correct, Intel will release a new architecture that will not be LGA775..

At this point I'm leaning towards that it is not worth it, is there any significant performance gains by going to P45?

DDR3 is supposed to get cheaper when Nehalem is rolled out. Not now. But if you haven't noticed, some of the OCZ DDR3 2x1GB are getting to around $100.

IMO, it's not worth the money & trouble (install) to upgrade from P35 to P45. Not even from P965 to P45. Why? Cuz they can all support 1333Mhz FSB, but it's up to the mobo manufacturer to release a new bios.

What's your primary upgrade goal?

Mainly stability, and possible more headroom for my graphics card. But I don't think even the GTX280 hits the PCI-E 1.1 saturation yet.
