I am a pretty avid mountain biker. I want to start road biking. So what is a good set up? Im talking something that I could do one hundred miles in day (waves to wine, gonna do it this year). I'm hoping to get it under $1,000. Any suggestions?

This is what I ride: Gary Fisher Dual Sport

Just got it this summer, and its is awesome. I do a lot of trail riding. They are called mountain biking trails, but look at a map of WI and tell me where the mountains are. ;) I ride a lot in town, too. Twice I've ridden it to work, which is a nice 25 mile ride each way. This is an amazing bike, and for someone coming off of mountain biking, I would think that its an ideal solution.

i too was interested in gettin into road biking and had a $1000 budget. Then i test rode a Jamis Comet and i was like WOW! I spent $500 more ($1500) but got a $150 voucher to purchase instore items like pedals and shoes. I got my ride at Performance bike shop, a store here thats in my area

Heres the link to my bike Jamis Comet

Heres the link to the bike shop PerformanceBike Online

I didnt buy the bike online tho, just locally. Performance also offered life time tune ups, so when my gearing gets whacky and stuff, the adjust it for free as long as i own my bike.. i like that!
