Big, roomy, comfortable, great for road trips from my home in Nor Cal to school in So Cal. Good looking car, good engine, fun to drive for an American car of its size, and really can't find much in its price range (10-12k) that offers the luxury that it does.. Anyone have one or experience with them?

Like anyone is gonna care about a small thumbnail picture of some random art piece in black & white with a topless woman.

They are some nice boobies tho :)

Oh, and I say if you like the car, take it for a test drive and go from there.

I think you should get a Koenigsegg CCR - just ask your loan officer for a bit more.

As with any newer Chrysler product, beware the 2.7ltr engine and the 4 speed transmission.
The 2.7 ltr has a history of sludging up if not taken care of properly.
The 4spd transmission is similar, a Chrysler specific fluid must be used and it should be flushed every 25-30000 miles to keep it in running order.
If you are willing to do those things and can find one with good records I would say go for it.

I have a 1999 Chrysler 300M with about 50K miles (bought it in 2002 with only 27K)

I have had no problems with it that were the car's fault.
(Only problem thus far has been fist sized hail damaging the heck out of the body, costed $7000+ to fix, insurance covered most of the costs)

I average about 19 MPG (heavy traffic, stop and go driving, about 1/2 highway, 1/2 local roads)
When they highway is open, and if I cruise at like 70, milage is around 25mpg.
When dealing with just city traffic, and no highway, all stop & go, then closer to 17mpg for my driving style.

it's not a "fast" car by any stretch of the imagination, however, it's not terribly slow either. (according to chrysler, 6.8 sec, 0 to 60, according to reality 7.5 sec is more realistic)
If you can find one with the "performance" handling package, it makes a pretty big difference with cornering, etc, so I would recommend that.
Otherwise, best of luck to you.

Also, the 300m Is much more roomy then a Maxima, it's also got better handling and acceleration. Though the Maxima will probably last longer/require less maintenance in the long haul.

EDIT: Here is a pic of my 99 Black 300M
Here is another picture.

Neither was available in the 300M.

You are right the 2.7 ltr wasn't offered on the 300M, but the 4spd transmission is.

It's not the same 4 speed. The 2.7L transmission is the 41TE, the 3.5L transmission is the 42LE.

the key thing is that if you take care of any car, it will most likely serve you well..... it's stupid to say be careful that the 2.7 liter engine has sludging problems because pretty much the only reason it does is the owners abuse and/or laziness to change the oil (which is NOT a difficult task by ANY means).... that said.. the 2.7 is a nice engine, I have one in my stratus and I've beat an early 2000's V8 mustang and kept up with a 305 camaro both with 3-4 more people in my car than theirs. It's got some serious pep.

Its the same basic internal design as the 41TE just mounted differently if I recall correctly, both are derived from the old A604, and both require the same maintaince schedule and fluid.

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/four-speed-automatics.html A nice write up on the A604/4xTE/4xLE
