I'm trying to find a semi-rugged notebook that has a matte screen, and so far I've been interested in the HP 8710w and Elitebook 8730w. What's the difference between the DDR3 and DDR2 in practice? Will I really notice a big difference?
 
Probably not a difference considering the cpu's don't need all that bandwidth anyway. If I am wrong, someone correct me.
 
i had an 8730 and traded it for one screen size smaller. the computers are very solid. i drag mine around in the oil field as a backup to the rackmounts in our trucks and to do our paperwork on.
 
i wouldn't call it semi rugged and without an ssd its a dog. its so darn big you'll drop it..
probably why they call it a mobile workstation


6930p with an intel ssd would be a great notebook.
