Thanks for looking at the thread!!

I'm looking at getting this ASUS mobo from either newegg or chiefvalue probably as a referb.

newegg $44 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131515R

chiefvalue $33 http://www.chiefvalue.com/app/productdetails.asp?submit=catalog&item=13-131-515R

I got another board referb OEM from newegg and if came basically retail with all the goods... I dont know if i can expect this or if it was a fluke. I have heard that with chiefvalue you do indede only get the mobo and nothing else. I will be using this with the 2.26 GHz Northwood from my dell poweredge 400sc I got a wihle back to prolong its life and see if i can't oc the thing.

suggestions and comments would be great!!

thanks

It's a fairly decent budget board with decent overclocking features, should work good with your 2.26ghz northwood. Usualy OEM referbed boards only come with the board, so I think you got lucky the first time.

YMMV. Out of probably 10+ refurb Asus boards from Newegg, only one of them (the exact board you linked to) came "like new retail." All other boards showed up in a plain white box with no accessories/drivers/IO shield.

I don't know your financial situation but you may want to spend an extra $50.00 and get a new Retail board like the Asus P4P800 SE (865PE) - 3 yr warranty and it will take up to a Prescott 3.4.

I bought it from Newegg in April, right now I'm using a Willamette 1.7 until I can afford a 3.2 or 3.4 Prescott.

If you want a good 478 motherboard.......
Asus P4C800 or Asus P4P800
Intel 875P and Intel 865PE
Both chipsets are very good

That's exactly what I was thinking.

ok one more thing about theses boards... many have extra letters after them as i would guess they are slightley different variations on the bords should I just try to fine the Asus P4C800 or Asus P4P800 Intel 875P and Intel 865PE or go with those other models?
