I bought a Samsung Mini-DV camcorder over a year ago. Its been a good one but I was thinking of getting something else. Couple questions. If it record straight to DVD then in order to add extras(backgrounds, music, ect) you would have to rip it back to computer right? Is it really worth upgrading? I was looking at the Sony Handycam Mini-DVD CR-DVD92.

BTW how much is the mini DVD's for them?

I was researching it sometime ago and decided to abandon it in favor of Mini-DV. If you decide to go Mini-DVD route, make sure they don't require you to use DVD-RAM disks which are godawful expensive.

So should I just stick with my Mini DV camcorder for now? Only thing I hate about it is capturing to PC its time consuming and annoying. I hate to buy one and regret it since I'll likely buy online.

minidvd is garbage. not enough capacity for good video at all. harddrive based camcorders are the way to go now. that or dv. dvd let alone minidvd has tiny capacity vs dv or harddrive.

yup...DVD-RAM discs suck. My brother in law owns one, and you have to have a special DVD drive to play the discs out of the camera.
