You can actually just copy the steamapps folder from your existing install. That way you won't have to redownload anything.

Huh, interesting. I don't have Crysis installed which is what I'm mainly looking forwards to, but good to know everything else I have is that easy to transfer.

T minus 1 hour until I can go home 😀

I'll have to be extra careful not to speed either 😱

Posting from the new machine! There were a few hiccups in the build, mostly from the Hyper 212 installation. Good thing I decided to practice installing it a few times beforehand because it's not very user friendly. And I made some bonehead moves not thinking right, like installing the card before connecting everything on the board and such.

But once everything was actually connected it booted up properly on the first try and installed windows fine from the USB drive. I'm currently downloading drivers, which are going INCREDIBLY slowly... there's got to be a better place to get video drivers as this 50k/s from Nvidia is a joke. Other than that I'm getting everything installed little by little.

Got to play some Crysis... Hot damn, I knew I'd be able to run high but I didn't know I'd be running max w/ vsync and still be as smooth as it is. The CPU is also staying incredibly cool. With that hyper 212 I idle at around 15 and I never saw it break above 30 once while playing. That's pretty impressive from both the CPU and hsf standpoint.

Glad you got it working!

15C is 59F, do you really keep your house that cold? 😱

Please note how the computer runs with Win7 on the SSD when you get a chance. I'm building in late summer/early fall and am definitely going with one. Hopefully the price per GB goes down a bit by then.

Now that I've been using it for a few days, I can say the system is noticeably fast. Windows starts and loads the desktop faster than the bios screen takes to load, and things I keep on the SSD like the browser are instant on when I click them. It's great, glad everyone talked me into it.

Kind of, not on purpose though. I'm in northern indiana so winters are cold, and my apt is above garages, which are also cold. So the area right at the floor (where my tower is) gets pretty cold. It's uncomfortable to walk around w/out socks, and I'd have to crank the thermostat above 75-80 to get the rest of the house to 65-70. I just keep it lower and dress warmer.

I'll probably move out when my 6 month lease it up. 😉

I knew you would like it. Now if only I could convince the rest of the doubters!

Awesome. I'll for sure be including one myself in my early fall build. Can't wait to see what changes and revisions come about, as well as the speed increases.
