these 2:
Acer X223Wbd
&
Acer AL2216WBD

the price is $10 difference right now, the specs look identical to me, the only difference I'm seeing is the X223Wbd has a different mount. Am I wrong to think they're the same except that? The 223Wbd looks nicer to me, but the original non sale price on it is lower than the other by about $30 bucks. If Anyone has used/seen both, care to chime in? I'm not going to be able to go to either store and look at them, this will be an online order.

thanks

The contrast ratio is higher in the X223Wbd which is 2500:1, the other monitor has 700:1. The higher the contrast ratio the more accurate and vibrant the colors. If I were you I'd consider monitors with a higher response time than 5ms. The response time refers to how long the monitor takes to respond to your actions like mouse movements. This becomes more crucial in gaming or tasks that require less visual lag.

Here's a link to a very nice monitor on Newegg, I bought the Asus VW222 a couple months ago and I love it (the above monitor is their newer version of the one I bought, practically the same). Has a 2ms response time, 1680x1050 res, nice contrast/color, and good build quality. After rebate it's also the same price as one of the Acer's you listed.

But if you want to go with one of the 2 you listed I'd say get the X223 because of the higher contrast ratio. You can also go to your local best buy and just look at the displays and see which you like, they have a full line of Acer and Samsung lcd monitors.

Good luck

thanks for the reply, but aren't the rated contrast ratios from the makers generally a bunch of crap? I thought the X223 looked all around better, I just couldn't figure out why it's cheaper. I would go to BB to look but the X223 isn't at Best Buy and the Office Depot up the street from me doesn't have it in stock. Maybe I'll see what OD's return policy is and order it from there, it's a bit cheaper on Newegg, but they don't take back LCD's unless defective from what I understand.
