looking 4 quiet budget AMD cooling

Hi
I need some quiet cool for my new system.
Will be using Athlon 1500+ up to 1800+ cpu.
In a Addtronics case with good airflow.
Will not overclock .

What do you recommend ?
Thanks..................................................Rick

Try the Evercool CUD-725 copper heatsink/fan ($17.99 at nexfan.com). I've had one on my 1800+ for about 4 days, and it is great - temps dropped about 4 degrees C under load. It has great airflow (42 CFM) at low noise (32 dba).

That Alpha PAL6035 that ChrisADuffy linked would be a nice choice, and here is another nice-quality possibility: Taisol with copper-inset base for $19 Noise is a relative thing, I had a heatsink that used the fan on this Taisol and it was not "silent" but not like a crazy 38cfm hair-dryer fan, either.

Or the "Galaxy Monster" from Nexfan- very quiet, surprisingly effective, ridiculously inexpensive.... All around good deal. SVC markets the same thing as a GC68, others carry it as well.

Sounds great ... ( if its not to loud )
good price$
I knew i did't need a loud high end
cpu fan ... thanks for the help ... ... ... Rick

<< I use this and This Alpha I overclock and these both will suffice for your xp processor. >>

I've used both on my 1600+ and I'll take the Dr. Thermal. Noticably quieter than the Alpha IMO and I'm getting almost a 7 to 9 degree (celsius) lower temperature reading.

Also the Dr. Thermal is probably one of the easiest HSF's to install with their lever. 😀

Ummm.. isn't the SUNON fan rated lower than 34dba of the other?

<< but there shipping is high $14 to ship one hsf >>

I ordered a couple heatsinks, some cables, and a mouse from them about a month ago and don't recall the shipping costs being nearly that bad. Are you pricing next day shipping? If so, it'll be expensive everywhere.

I can't recall being charged less than $6-7 shipping for much of anything, there's some kind of a minimum with UPS and Fedex.... USPS is often cheaper, few vendors ship that way anymore, though....

Toss some other stuff in the shopping basket while you're there, just to make it worth the shipping. Fans, cables, thumbscrews- whatever, the price goes up slowly once you're over the minimum. If you're like me, it'll save you a trip to Radio Shack.

Just some helpful stuff here I hope:
SVCompucycle and Bestbyte are two good places that don't overcharge on shipping; SVC has the lowest shipping of the two though.
Depending on how low-price you want to go, the GC68 with a panaflo and ASII/III should do fine, though there is also the GC27 for a few $$ cheaper, but I haven't heard anything about how it performs. All I've heard about the GC68 has been praise.
I personally bought an Alpha PAL8045 for $22 shipped at the FS/T forums here; it works great; might want to check there first.
