Never seen one myself but my Dad always warned of misfires. "Just give it a minute." They were rare when I was younger but some ammo quality has gone to crap in the last several years.

If the discharge had not kicked the gun out, he'd be dead.

I've always been told when there's a misfire to keep it pointed in a safe direction for 60 seconds and then attempt to clear (totally by eyeballing the bore!) but I guess this guy's been taught differently.
