The North American version of Amiga CD32, there's only one being sold and they're selling it for $600 used. I could buy it too, but I'm saving my money for my trip to Costa Rica. Damn, this is probably the only time we will ever see a the North American version of one of these being sold ever again, considering how rare they are. Read up about it on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_CD32

I'll never understand the point of spending so much money on something so useless by today's standards. You want to spend that money just because it's old and rare?

lmao...wow. then you get to play some way outdated, crappy games. it failed then for a reason and financially, its pure fail now.
I mean i like some oldschool gaming now and then, but damn. Why not pay less for a good system or better yet buy a Voodoo card/P3 and play some good old PC games and still have ching ching in your pocket.

The main reason it failed then was because Commodore missed the key Christmas season. It actually sold pretty well in Europe. Nevertheless, even if those weren't true and it sold like gangbusters, the PS1 (and other new consoles) were around the corner and would've crushed it.

CD32 was too little, too late. Had it been released in 1989 or 1990, then maybe Commodore would've become a player in the console market. Doubtful, though, since they seemed to screw up everything they touched after Jack Tramiel left.

As I mentioned in my previous post, $600 for that is ridiculous. You can get them for aroudn $200 on eBay IIRC.

For me, I've always been a Commodore fan and while I wouldn't buy a CD32, I have bought some Amiga parts off eBay to expand my old Amiga (nowhere near $600, though). It is still a fun computer to play with even after all these years.

Doesn't really matter, as there's still the discussion of why pay so much for shitty old game consoles that failed even in the era they were in? Doesn't matter if it's $600, $200, $100, or even $50... AFAIC you're paying a lot of money for a dusty old box who's only redeeming feature is it has a connection to gaming.

hey, lets play mad dog Mcree on 3DO...no wait, Zelda on CDi....and pay $$$ for it! lol, then we'll know how the sad kids felt back in the day.
If i'm buyin an old system, i'd get something like SNES which actually had some good, well made games or even NeoGeo, even though they had fair amount of lacklusters imo....though Emulation serves my nostalgic needs just fine.
