Ahhh the good ol' commodore. I remember well typing Load"*",8,1 to get the directory of my discs on the 1541 floppy drive.
My brother and I used to play Dr J. & Larry Bird! I also LOVED the Epyx "games" series (summer games, winter games, summer games II) and for some extra fun - JUMPMAN!
Those were the days.....
Under Commodore Basic V2.0, the tape drive was the default device for load. Just type Load "name of program" and it would look for the tape drive. The device number is 1.What was it to load off the tape drive and did the cartridges autoload? It's been forever ago, I can't remember. I do remember summer games though, we went thru a shit load of joysticks. This is the type we used. http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/gamertell-review-wicos-command-control-joystick/

Cartridges were auto-load on start up.
devices 8-12 were used for floppy drives.what was the 8 for?
the C128 has an RGB video out. An old CGA 9 pin video cable should fit.I just ordered 2 new joysticks off of eBay and some components to build a cable to hook my C64 and C128 up to the plasma TV in my man cave. I'm hoping the brothers will come over for some Summer Games goodness.

what about using the PC connector on the back of the TV? Just make a patch cable from 9 pin to VGA?It will, but I need to connect this to a plasma. So my choices are rather limited, but I learned that the DIN connector on the back of the machines actually outputs S-Video which is perfect. I just need to adapt it to the standard S-video plug and I will have C64 goodness on my 42" 1080P man cave plasma. :awe:
EDIT: If you have the DIN to RCA cable, you can actually plug one of the video plugs straight into a composite jack. The colors look washed out, but you can see everything.

I have both kinds of din cables.
I have no clue. How old and how much was it new?
Yeah, and to correct an earlier post -- I believe the command for the disk directory was:
LOAD"$",8
LIST
Also, I got excited watching this:
