"But, the survey suggests, you can avoid some of these drivers if you know what to look for: Young people, women and motorists who live in the Northeast."

Sounds like bullshit. Example: law says you're supposed to pass going the speed limit, but if you actually did that you would probably die. Passing at a safe speed = hardcore illegal.

So many people have no fucking clue what they are doing on the road. They think that because they are in a car, they are in their own little world. It's fucking pathetic. Slowing down to merge? you are a fail. not throwing on that blinker? you are a fail. so many fails every day. FUCK. If you're a decent/good driver, spend a few years driving the 405 and you'll feel me.

I feel your pain, I go through the same thing every day. There are no-left turn signs on my way to work; literally every morning I see someone turning at the no left turn. This hasn't changed in several years. Almost every day I see people turning without using a turn signal (or the classic slam on the breaks, then put on the turn signal).

On top of that, traffic circles: they're like a magnet for retard drivers. The traffic circle has a simple rule: yield. Some people think yield means treat as a stop sign and come to a dead stop when there are no cars in the circle. Others ignore the yield sign entirely and expect the people inside the circle to yield to them.

Then there is another big one: schoolbusses. If you see a school bus with the flashing red lights, that means stop. Don't be a fvcking retard and just drive by on the other side, because that's illegal. Don't zoom by the bus super fast. Just stop and wait. There is another spot on the way to work where a schoolbus stops every weekday morning. Every morning some retards fail to stop on the other side, and the cops setup a trap because so many people were doing it, so day after day I see people pulled over without fail.

This is just basic stuff that people don't seem to understand.

A big LOL that women failed twice as much as men.

Most women on average are terrible drivers where as I would say most men on average are just slightly shitty drivers.

Juddog, I watched 8 cars turn right when there was a big "NO TURN ON RED" sign at the Slauson exit on La Cienega. Wtf man?

I recently had to take a written drivers test (finally got my UT drivers license) and I only missed three. These stupid statistic questions like what percentage of reported accidents are alcohol related. That has nothing to do with the rules of the road.

I wonder how the demographics break out completely.... anyone seen the movie Crash and the beginning part of "Blake Lights?"

Some people can sure score some high test scores in Math and Science but fail miserably at driving.

I'm strange enough to get bored sometimes to read the local laws, statues, and all that fun stuff including driving regulations. That and visit these forums :)

Basically this is not much of a surprise. It's bad here in Texas of how many on the road do not know how to drive. There are so many unlicensed and uninsured motorists around here it's scary.

Yeah the no turn on red thing seems to be one of the most commonly broken rules.

The one day on my lunch break, I was driving up to an intersection with a no turn on red sign. I sat in the lane and didn't turn, even though my turn signal was on, and some numbnuts behind me starts laying into his car horn as if I'm the one at fault!

On top of that, at the same intersection, I saw a car almost clip a pedestrian crossing the street because he was rushing to turn right when he wasn't supposed to. The pedestrian calmly walked over to the "no turn on red" sign and yelled out to the cars sitting at the light, while pointing his finger at the words, "NO....TURN...ON....RED!!!"

It was hilarious!

School buses 'round here often say on the back "illegal to pass when lights flashing" or something like that.
City buses have a similar sign but it reads "illegal to pass on right" and it has a little diagram showing the bus hitting a car.

Rules of the road by fucking idiots, if they put on their turn signal, they have the right to move over as long as their car can fit.

If you speed up instead of letting them in, it's your own fault when they smash into you and kill your entire family

I saw your post and thought you must be in Southern California and sure enough...

I hate those people the most. Any time I try to keep a safe distance some joker just forces their way in front of me with barely a second of advanced turn signal notice. (Lucky if I even get that)

Also hate people that don't know how to get on a freeway. The ones that just cruise on over without any concern of how fast the flow of traffic is going. People, you need to pick your spot, either speed up to get ahead of the oncoming car or let that car pass and fall in behind. Don't expect me to slam on my brakes to let you in!

yup, it's so fucking dumb. I'm not doing 50 and leaving 6-8 car lengths because I'm trying to slow up traffic. I'm doing 50 and leaving 6-8 car lengths because there's a shit load of traffic and I don't want to have to make any extremely abrupt stops that could cause an accident or further impede traffic.

Yesterday on the way to a client, I was approaching a line of cars stopped at a signal. A bitch in a Mercedes went around me and right back over just to gain ONE spot at the light. No signal nothing,I was just mind boggled as to what the fuck she was thinking, the cars were all stopped waiting to get on the on ramp to the toll road.

Can we all be honest about one thing? When I have that rumble in my stomach (that we all know gets worse the closer you get to the toilet), I go from a guy with 0 points on his license since 2003, to a freaking maniac trying to get home.

Maybe that chick in the Mercedes had some Tequila and some bad guac the night before....you never know!

I'm not worried that when I am too close (less than good x car lengths away) to someone that I will be rear ending someone but more that I will be rear ended. I've watched people on the road and I specifically watch my rear view mirror MORE than my front view just because I know if I slam the brakes these people will bulldoze my rear end. I try to make it so I slow down at a decent rate if such unexpected events happen. I've watched people come a foot away from rear ending me because they just follow so close and have huge reaction times.

That's mostly what I meant by causing an accident.

I don't obey "no turn on red signs" if there is no reason to - aka no traffic around and no pedestrians. It's a waste of time and money and congestion.

Or maybe she had to get somewhere and it was critical for her job, her kids, her bodily functions, her health...

People who think they can read the minds of other drivers are just as arrogant and assholish.

Thumbs up to the guy going a constant speed and leaving gaps instead of doing bumper to bumper gas and brake. Serious.
