Well it ain't gonna suck... erm... _run_ itself I mean. You still have to try and open it, and if you can't distinguish between an actual mp3/avi file and a few hundred KB .exe or .scr or something you shouldn't be using a computer anyway :D
Especially if you download a 'full' version of a recent game and it's only a few hundred KB large you should get slightly suspicious. Not that you shouldn't distrust those downloads in the first place (always scan downloaded files).

I always start off with excluding .vbs when installing Grokster.

I had Kazaa Lite, and just recently three buttons appeared, each one just had x displayed on it. When I moved cursor (arrow) over it, it displayed the button tip that says "Do Not Click". Also when I went thru the process of downloading mp3 files, it went thru the motion of downloading but the files never downloaded.

I did a virus scan with the latest virus definition and nothing showed up. Has anybody seen something like this?

I have now uninstalled Kazaa Lite.

Ummm... those have been there since the install. They did not just appear.

The guy who hacked the real kazaa into the lite version presumably could not remove those buttons in the same way that he had to leave a fake cydoor reg entry. Don't worry about it....

This would only have the ability to harm you if you download executable files (exe, vbs, etc) and not media files (mpg, mp3, etc) right?

Oh I see, I just didn't notice them before. Only when I downloaded mp3s which never downloaded and all the talk of viruses i notice them.

So why didn't the mp3s download (never got saved on the HD) even though it showed that it was downloading?

Kazaa is famous for another thing - downloading 95% of your files at full speed then it automatically grabbing the last 5% at .01KB/sec... :disgust:
