I came accross this article. A person stops and goes to the overlook to take a picture and on the way back is bit by a copperhead. After her foot swells up she goes to the hospital. Price tag for the medical care is over $50k.
Look out for snakes. Wearing flip flops or sandals is cool but around any kind of overgrown area around trails or forests try wearing Leather hiking boots. The area was not even a trail but just some area that you are not really expecting to see a snake.
Copperheads are a type of reddish colored shake like a rattle snake. If it is cooler they like to sit in the sun in the middle of a trail. Dont mess with snakes. Look before you walk.
