Look for a good linix Guide

I want to play around with linix, but I want a good guide that also includes networking the system to an exisiting system. The guide can be book or web

Linuxnewbie is a pretty good start...

Ditto the Linuxnewbie site.
Also, there's the Linux documentation project.LDP. Check the "Hardware How-to" for hardware compatability.
A good general reference to get would be "Running Linux" 3rd ed. by Matt Welsh and Lar Kauffman. It's an O'Reilly book that should be just about everywhere.

The man pages are archaic, but useful. I would go with the linuxnewbie though.
