The heatsink sorta resembles an sk7. That fan is very interesting. I just wonder how noisy it is on the higher speeds. The Volcano 12 is set to be released late september. And at least Tt went away from an orange fuglyfan. :D

yeah, and went to a RED fuglyfan....

and I thought it looked like a souped-up SK*, too. my, we think alike, don't we. oh, wait, could it be because THERMALTAKE RIPPED ANOTHER DESIGN? yeah. :)

I wonder how the tri-blade fan will stack up, though. I'm gonna ask on OC-Forums, and by the time they get one of those things for review, they can try it on another HSF. OverClockers gets every single heatsink, anyways.

it has 66 fins, though, so what that mean, 66 on each side, or 33 on each side? I'm leaning towards the latter, because of marketing techniques. the SLK-900 has 46 fins, I believe....

I'm interested, but I'm also put off by the company's reputation. meh.

I think 66 fins on each side :)

Isn't that just a Silent Boost with a different fan?

I don't think it can really be called a copy of the SK-7 because the SK-7 is basically just a slab of copper and fins, no design like the SLK-800. The SLK-800 has that triangular base thing.

Thermaltake is all about the bling-bling. If their products are functional, it's only because they ripped the designs from other companies.

That is a non-standard size fan - 32mm thick - that's why fewer blades. From the CFM, it will hardly ever have to run full speed.
But my HSF is a bit taller and bigger than that with a std. 80x25 fan.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought the more blades, the better the fan? This would seem to be going in the other direction, though that's not really surprising from ThermalFake.

Deeper fans have to have fewer blades to allow the air to fill in behind it's called the scavenging effect.

I'm getting the silent boost in next week. It's the same heatsink as the V12, but with a different fan. I'll test it against an sk7/slk800 using the same fan. Even with that Tt fan if it'll fit.

It looks like a good heatsink. Just hope they have improved the cheapy clips.

Actually, it's not the same heatsink as the V12.
Silent Boost = 85x73x48 mm (46 fins)
V12 = 82x65.6x49 mm (66 fins).

um yea, high rpm = loud! but it also runs at low rpm and anything inbetween with that knob. the thick 3 blade fan is interesting, its a deep scoop alright, and the static pressure seems good.

it is just the silent boost thing with a more ridiculous fan. the silent boost is just a panaflo with cuts in the side of it, for some bizarre thermaltake marketing reason.

thermaltake are the rice equivalent for pcs. lots of go-faster stripes etc. it's probably not a thermalright ripoff, it probably IS a SK-7, they probably cut some deal with thermalright to make the part for them. probably smart move too tbh, thermaltake distribute to EVERYONE in the UK, I only know of two e-tailers selling thermalright.

tbh i've had 3 experiences with thermaltake products, frankly i'd rather piss on my cpu for cooling.
