AltaVista offering to "Earn Rewards" of up to 500,000 points daily.

Well, I tried that on the morning of the 4th of July, and after I have registered on the site, I went to "Rewards" homepage at http://shopping.altavista.com/rewards/default.sdc? and clicked ONCE on the "See if you won today!" and to my surprise, there came the screen - "Congratulations ... You are an instant winner...". For some reason I took a Screen-Shot - of the "Award" http://www.parts-n-more.com/board/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000007.html
As I faild to see Alta vista credit my profile with the 500,000 points, I wrote them a mail.

Hahaha, they denied the award, wrote some cra& about some "technical difficulties" and offered me "We appreciate your understanding in this matter, and have deposited 1,000 bonus Points in your AltaVista Rewards account to make up for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

You can see the full copies of AltaVista and my you can see here -
http://www.parts-n-more.com/board/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000007.html

Oh, btw, I won 2 more times the same day... :)

Give me some of your input and wisdom.:Q

Thanx

Thats another one of those technical loopholes that goes along with the buy.com $50 off $500/$50 fiasco - you can brag and moan all you want but considering hitting refresh is a way of cheating they shouldn't be obliged to give it to you

BTW, this belongs in the ~~~BRAG AND MOAN~~~ thread created by the Anandtech mod...

They did take all of my points away though that i got from registering...then they made it sound like they were doing me a service by giving me back my 1000 points...gee guys thanks!

You absolutely wrong my dear RagingBITCH.

Happened to be that I did click only once (the first time) and I won. I don't ask points for the other 2 times. I ask for the points that I legitimately SQUARE AND FAIR won.

They got to to award what they have bargain to do.

"Difficulties" or not, this is their problem. If they can not manage their own software, let them go out of business. We offer them our own personal information that they end up selling or financially benefit in other way, for a chance to win.

They absolutely got to credit those points to us.

Same thing happened to me! I signed up on Sunday and the first time I clicked on "am I an instant winner" it said that I won. I did not press refresh as I won on the first try. I went to check on wednesday (after 72 hours) to see if they had credited my account and they hadn't. But I entered the contest again and once again it said I won. This time I was credited the 500,000 points the next morning and my name appeared on the list of daily winners. I too, was wondering if I had any right to the 500k from the first time that I won since I did not cheat and their server logs would confirm it...or if somehow my winning on wednesday had something to do with it...as if it was fixed or something. What can we do?

broadwayblue -

I would suggest to you to read my reply mail to them - http://www.parts-n-more.com/board/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000007.html and do the same.

We have fulfilled our side of the bargain by giving them our personal information for a chance to win. They are the one in fault.

We did not commit any teft, hacking or cheating.

In my book when you promise to award something on line and you do not fulfill what you have posted that you will do is called - Wire fraud.

If they claim that there where difficulties with their site, in this is in regard to awarding the points, how come they did not have those difficulties to collect my information and start to solicit me to spend money with them ?

Can you answer me that?

Circus...I'm going to read their official rules and see if it says anything about winning more than once (on different days.) I'm sure it does...so I guess there's probably not much I can do.

If you feel you are right, take them to court....If you are just passing time, take it to brag and moan, as this is clearly not a hot deal =)
