why is there a huge ring around the moon?

it's about 50-75moons away diameter wise.

location: Upstate NY.

I didn't say it was a parody. I just don't know how you didn't see it when you made that comment as it was only like 3 threads down from this one on the first page.
 
THis phenomenon is called a Moon Dog - there is also Sun Dogs and there is some more technical sounding name for it too.
